Character Name: Aladdin
Series: Disney's Aladdin
Gender: Male
Age & Canon Point: 18, from after the first movie
Requested Sponsor: Ruby or Amber
Entry position: Cadet
History: Character background and Plot summary of Aladdin
Abilities & Physical Abnormalities: Aladdin has no supernatural or out of the norm abilities. However, he physically fit, agile, and acrobatic. He's got quite a few tricks up his sleeve that have helped him in his life as a thief, such as lock picking and slight of hand. He is also clever and creative, able to think on his feet, and very adaptable.
Personality: Aladdin shows a cocky and confident front to the world. He's street smart, capable, and highly athletic - so he has good reason for the confidence. He's adventurous and often makes rash and risky decisions. He tends to jump into situations without really thinking about it beforehand, even though he's very intelligent and street smart. In fact he usually he uses his head to get himself out of the scrapes he finds himself in, as opposed to using it to make sure he doesn't get into them in the first place. He's also very passionate, and isn't easily cowed.
But despite his easy confidence, Aladdin does have his insecurities, particularly about his social status in life. He wants to be more than the street rat he's been all his life, and deep down he gets frustrated when other people don't give him the chance to show them that there's more to him. He also worries about whether he'll be able to deal with challenges that becoming engaged to Jasmine will mean for him - he moved way up the social ladder and will one day become Sultan, making him a serious fish out of water and very ill prepared for it.
Being used to people dismissing for being a street rat, Aladdin has come to crave acceptance from other people. Unfortunately, this often means that he shows other people what he thinks they want to see, rather than actually being himself. And, while after the events of the first movie Aladdin is much more comfortable with really being himself (and knows that people like Jasmine do like who he really), he will still revert back to that old habit of trying to conform to what other people want in particularly uncomfortable situations.
Aladdin's also very brave and compassionate - he'll often risk himself without hesitation to save or help other people, and even give up things that he really needs for himself (like food) to someone else who needs it more. This isn't a front he puts on as part of his desire for acceptance - he's just naturally this way. He'll help people even when it means risking the scorn of others (like Prince Achmed aka "horse with two rear ends" guy), and he genuinely cares about others.
But, he has got a definite mischievous streak - and the ability to be very sneaky and underhanded. He'll say needling comments about his enemies and friends, trick people into doing what he wants, and be cheeky. He's generally fairly relaxed and pretty good company, but he's definitely not above being manipulative to get ahead.
What are your plans for the character in-game?
For the most part with Aladdin I want to just toss him in and see how he goes, but I do also want to explore how he'll go in regards to schooling. Since Aladdin has no education whatsoever (and has the added disadvantages of being illiterate and not speaking English), he's going to need to try and adapt to this new system and learn a lot of catch up.
Anything else? I would like for Aladdin to bring in his pet monkey Abu and magic anthropomorphic flying carpet with the very creative name of 'Carpet' in as pets.

Complete TWO out of the FOUR options.
i) IC Questionnaire (can be found on the application page)
(As this questionnaire is entirely IC, your character is free to lie.)
What do you prefer to be known as?Al, Prince Ali...Just Aladdin.
How old are you? Uh...nineteen, I think? I don't really keep track of birthdays.
Do you have any history in combat? I could dodge the guards in Agrabah with my eyes closed any day. But I'm not really a fighter.
If so, have you ever killed? Hey, I might be a thief, but I'm not a killer. I've never killed anybody.
i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity? Sounds like a lot of fun to me.
ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities? Leisure activities? [laughs] That's definitely a question I've never been asked before. But I don't really organise anything - I like to improvise.
iii) What role do you take when working in a group? A group? I haven't really worked in a group before...I've always had to get by on my own. With Abu's help, of course, and then the Genie. I guess I don't really know what role I'd take.
iv) How talkative are you around other people? If they'll talk to me, I'll talk back!
v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning. Things? I've never had much of those anyway. But if I had Abu, and Jasmine, and Genie with me...I think I'd be pretty happy to live on any desert island.
vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people? Liked by a lot of people...it would be nice. Life's a lot harder when no one likes you, and doesn't see you for who you really are.
vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance? Why not? Sometimes those odds will turn around.
viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person? Hey, living on the streets of Agrabah keeps you on your toes. If you don't take a chance when you can, you won't get far.
ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life? Where's the fun in planning?
x) Do you like surprises? I've had plenty of good surprises, so yeah, I think I do.
xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you? Sometimes.
xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions? Superiors? I don't have any!
xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages? Cabbages are good, but apples are better.
ii) Prose sample (can be general or a response to the post's prompt).
iii) Bracket/Commentspam RP sample (can be general or a response to the post's prompt).
