Personally I view the scene with the lamp as him trying to make out perhaps a pictorial symbol (or what he thinks could be one), but that is basically my own interpretation there and not something that's canon.]]

If I was to offer one piece of advice, myself, it would be that the Barge is not a place of punishment as a prison might be. Lingering on the past of anyone here is not useful, only what they might do differently and accomplish in the future.

It's kinda different from anything I've ever known about. They don't exactly try to rehabilitate anyone in Agrabah. I'm glad it's not a place of punishment, though. I'm not sure I could punish anybody.
